They apparently also did that on a game show a year later. Anyone know if it was the same exact costumes? |

They did do it on the kids' version of Hollywood Squares, Storybook Squares, in 1977. I can't remember whether they were the identical costumes though. |

It was established in the back story of Steve and Bo, that Bo was underaged when he joined the Merchant Marine. That is why he had a fake name, Rick Kelly. The writers also implied that Steve was older, took a 17 year old Bo under his wing. And since Kay is older than Bo, their pairing of her with Bo's best buddy who was closer to her age made sense. Actors' ages have nothing to do with it...especially back when they were young. Often males were older than the female because if they started characters in their teens, the teen boys often looked way too young for teen girls their same age. It's biology. Overall, males mature much slower and continue growing (physically, height/muscular structure) well into their mid 20s. Meanwhile, the majority of females reach their physical maturity by age 16. Yes there are outliers in all groups but on average it always made sense that in casting young couples on shows, often the males were between 5 and 7 years older chronologically. However, nowadays, that formula seems to have changed on DAYS and honestly, I think this is why they have had so few young couple that had any of the impact that Bope, or J/J or S/K had...even Melissa and Pete. All of the males in these pairings that started onscreen when the couples were relatively young, the male actors were all between 6 and 10 years older than the female actors. But they all were written as close to the same age. PR and KA about 7 yrs apart but Bo and Hope 2 to 3 years apart. Steve and Kayla same age but SN is 10 years older than MBE. I think MA and MR there are six or seven years different. Honestly, I think the couples all looked good together.....except maybe Melissa and Pete ....but she did look good with Todd played by David Wallace, whom she married and who is 10 years older than her. With Dee and WN (about the same age) it did not matter as much because Marlena came on as a young doctor, not a teen. So since she was mature at the start she could be paired with almost anyone younger or older and it worked. JMO |

I agree, Dee has aged nicely, though I would prefer less work on her smile. JMO. But she looks good. That said, I think most of the actors, male and female, have aged nicely. Don't care for PM's work earlier but I am sure actors are often told it has to be done...especially females. Bottom line, though, after 50, I really don't think age differences in pairings make much of a difference, except when writers are blatantly trying to pretend relationships don't exist (grand parents esp...as in Hope and Claire) . I understand that is changing. In the end, pretending any character does not have a grandchild, so he/she can be paired with someone younger just creates resentment...though with Rage and Hope there are so many reasons to dislike them that has nothing to do with age differences. |

I agree with you but my issue is Wayne and Drake, not Wayne and Deidre... |

I personally love Rafe, but this whole cover up story with Stefano's murder is disenchanting even for someone like me who loves the guy and the actor to boot. His whole involvement with Hope is just icky in my book. Maybe I just can't buy the love story (even though I've tried to give it a chance), but it just doesn't resonate with me. It's not like it makes me want to spit nails at my TV screen, but it's more like a nagging irritant if anything. There was a time that Rafe was a hero and I was, admittedly, a huge Safe fan (and probably always will be). He's not being a hero now though, contrary to what the show wants to make us think, which makes the whole thing even more infuriating to watch. It's a shame because the character and GG have so much more potential that they're just throwing away with this storyline. |

It appears that "Antony & Cleopatra" is the most over-done couples costume on Soaps. Between Doug/Julie, Luis/Sheridon, Nathan/Maxie, & now Hope/Rafe, (& I wouldn't be surprised if there are more that haven't been uncovered) it's like soaps use "Antony & Cleopatra" when they can't think of any novel/creative for "his & hers". (Now, Doug/Julie get a pass for theirs since they're the "original" duo that donned the costume.) (I didn't include Marlena cause I don't know if she was Cleopatra to Roman/John's Antony or just went on her own.) |

Maybe next year a couple should dress as original Doug and Julie. "Doug" could wear the 70s costumes Doug wore while singing at Doug's Place; "Julie" could wear one of the sexy, one-piece jumpsuits that Julie often wore at that time (and have the long dark fall, with the braid). Of course, few people would get the reference. :blulaugh: Edited by jam6242, Oct 30 2016, 12:38 PM.

I'm hoping he and Valerie have a child together. David could easily be a grandfather by now or even a great-grandfather considering that his son was played by RH on General Hospital, where he is the father of a teenaged daughter who could easily get pregnant (after all, Alexis got pregnant with Sam at 16). They definitely aged David too much when they had RH play Scotty. Going by original birth ages, David had Scotty when he was 10. As for Hope and David, technically Hope is David's aunt like Julie is Shawn, Zack and Ciara's aunt. But they play it like Julie is their grandmother. So I wonder would Hope refer to David as her nephew or her stepbrother. Also, Andre murdered David's ex-wife (who is Tony and Andre's half-sister). Add to that with Renee being Nick's step-grandmother and the Hortons were linked with the DiMera's LONG before Chabby. |

I agree, all Days actors look great. Some of them look a decade (or two) younger than their actual age. But let's call a spade a spade - in most cases it's not about them ageing nicely lol. And for the record, I have nothing against BTX, fillers or PS. I just think people have to be aware of these things when comparing the looks of actors (and people in general) and talking about ageing. |
